Attack of the StandAlone Internet Explorers!
We still have a bit of time before it's a virtually mandatory upgrade for everyone.
This is all really old news at this point.
Anyway, I just came across an easy way to set up Internet Explorer 7 as a standalone browser. You'll need to do that if you still want to have the ability to use Internet Explorer 6. Or need to, because who would want to?
It turns out that they also have a nice installer for getting Internet Explorers 3 thru 6 installed as standalone browsers. With fully functioning conditional comments support and the version number in the title bars.
